Brew Your Coffee Waste-Free

With all the local roasters in Vancouver, there’s no excuse to sip a mediocre cup of coffee! We’ve sourced a number of local brands to provide us with both pre-ground and whole bean options that are completely package-free.

Now that you don’t have packaging to worry about, we’ve put together our top tips for brewing your coffee zero-waste.

Method 1

French Press

For a standard 8-cup French Press, use 55g coarse ground coffee. Pour in approximately 940 grams boiling water. Stir and wait 4 minutes. Then plunge and pour.

Method 2

Chemex

Wet filter with boiling water (try reusable organic cotton filters). Add 40g auto drip size ground coffee to the filter. Pour in 200g boiling water and allow the coffee to ‘bloom’. Slowly pour in 480g more of boiling water, making sure to push any grounds off the side of the filter. Stir once in a circular motion. Let drip until finished. Pour and enjoy.

Method 3

Pour Over

Wet filter with boiling water. Add 20g auto drip size ground coffee to the filter. Pour in 100g of boiling water and allow coffee to ‘bloom’. Slowly pour in 240g more of boiling water, making sure to push any grounds off the side of the filter. Stir once in a circular motion. Let drip until finished. Pour and enjoy.
